EAA AirVenture Grounds Weather Recent Rain Storms

June 13, 2008 — Heavy rains in the Midwest this past week caused widespread flooding and worse, but we're happy to report that the EAA AirVenture convention grounds made it through in good shape. They will be ready as usual when Camp Scholler opens for residents in two weeks, on Friday, June 27.

"Even with all the rain we've had, the grounds are in good condition," said Steve Taylor, EAA facilities maintenance manager. "We just take on mother nature as it comes and deal with it in the best way possible to make our visitors' experiences the best they can be." Improvements made throughout the grounds help deal with large rainfalls, including added drainage areas, extra loads of woodchips, and excess gravel, Taylor added.

Nearly all of the grounds are in excellent shape and very green right now, ready to welcome EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2008 campers and visitors at the end of the month.
