February 12, 2009 — One of the largest general aviation shows in Europe, AERO, will be held April 2-5 at the Messe in Friedrichshafen, Germany, and EAA members will receive free admission as special invited guests as a result of a new alliance between EAA and AERO.
With 11 exhibit halls, AERO will host most than 500 exhibitors from 23 countries. Four halls are specifically dedicated to exhibits of microlights, very light aircraft (VLA) and light-sport aircraft (LSA), while business aviation is also heavily represented at the show. New this year is a hall for helicopters and other rotorcraft along with an E-Flight Expo, which will feature electric-powered aircraft, new solar technologies, and innovative propulsion concepts highlighting the demand for environmentally friendly aviation.
Working in partnership, EAA and AERO hope to strengthen participation at both international events and create greater global awareness of general aviation (GA) issues. EAA President Tom Poberezny, who will deliver the event’s keynote address, commented, “By covering all aspects of GA and delivering tremendous value to its visitors, AERO is the place to be to do business in Europe. We hope new business opportunities will open up for U.S. industries and vice versa, and that our participation in AERO will offer added value to our members, especially EAA’s European members.”
AERO Project Director Thomas Grunewald welcomed EAA’s participation, noting an ever-stronger U.S. presence at this year’s event, “We’re pleased about the continuing strong participation of U.S. companies. In fact, after Germany, they put together the largest national contingent at AERO.”
