June 25, 2009 — Brad Hayden, director of marketing for Aspen Avionics, visited EAA Headquarters in Oshkosh on June 25 to renew Aspen’s partnership with EAA to host the North 40 Welcome Center during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2009, having instituted the Center for the first time in 2008.
EAA Chairman and President Tom Poberezny welcomed Hayden to Oshkosh and thanked Aspen for its participation in assisting EAA members who park or camp with their aircraft in the North 40 Area of Wittman Regional Airport. “Aspen’s Welcome Center helps create a ‘neighborhood gathering place’ for the many campers in that area,” Poberezny said. “The tent provides people an opportunity to get out of the sun and visit with friends old and new. It’s place where they can get questions answered, pick up a copy of the EAA AirVenture Today newspaper, and generally broaden their understanding of what’s happening around the field. EAA greatly appreciates Aspen’s efforts.” The Center is located adjacent to the North 40 Admissions Building.
During his visit to Oshkosh, Hayden presented the 2008 North 40 Welcome Center Guest Book to Poberezny for EAA’s archives. Members visiting the Welcome Center last summer were invited to sign the Guest Book, including the N number of their aircraft along with a sketch of it. “People had fun signing the book,” Hayden said.
Aspen Avionics, which specializes in bringing advanced technology and capability in glass cockpits into general aviation aircraft, is also a co-sponsor of this year’s Runway 5K race, which will be held on Saturday, August 1, on the taxiway surrounding the North 40 Camping area.
