EAA’s ‘Hints For Homebuilders’ Hits Century Mark
Series marks 100 videos posted, closing in on 1 million downloads
August 20, 2009 — This week EAA marked the 100th episode of Hints for Homebuilders, the popular video series on the EAA website. The series, featuring short, informative, helpful tips from experts on all aspects of amateur aircraft building was launched in March of 2008 and became instantly popular among EAA members and homebuilders – so much so that the total number of downloads is approaching 1 million, according to Charlie Becker, EAA director of member programs.
“With 100 videos posted to the website and nearly 1 million plays, Hints for Homebuilders’ success has exceeded our wildest expectations,” Becker said. “We have several new episodes in production, and we continually receive new ideas from members.”
Becker thanks all the volunteer “stars” that have appeared in the videos. “Without them, none of this would have been possible,” he said.
Earlier this year EAA filled numerous requests to begin making episodes available on DVD. Sheet Metal Vol. 1 is the first of a planned series of releases that will allow the hints to be played on big screens anywhere, such as at EAA Chapter meetings.
