2010 Husky

October 20, 2009 — The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Annual Meeting and Convention is under way in Orlando, Florida. EAA representatives are there, featuring the 2010 Share the Spirit Sweepstakes grand prize Aviat Husky A-1C as centerpiece to its exhibit, booth 1263. NBAA 2009, the 62nd annual convention, is set for October 20-22 at the Orange County Convention Center.

This afternoon Aviat President Stu Horn and Chevron Global Aviation President Doug Hinzie join EAA Chairman/President Tom Poberezny to talk about the aircraft and why it’s a great airplane for recreation - even for those with thousands of hours in business aircraft.

Also today, Poberezny joins Rod Palmer, general aviation manager for ConocoPhillips; Sporty’s Pilot Shop Founder Hal Shevers; and new Young Eagles program Co-chairman/US Airways Flight 1549 pilot Jeff Skiles. Topics of discussion include  the latest flurry of activity surrounding the EAA Young Eagles program.

  • Reaching the 1.5 million mark for young people flown since 1992;
  • Skiles and Sully Sullenberg’s recent appointment to co-chair the program;
  • and Sporty’s commitment to Young Eagles including its “next step” for Young Eagles, with more than 1,500 Young Eagles enrolling in Sporty’s online pilot courses since April.

NBAA runs through Thursday, October 22.
