FAA Funding Stalled as House Authorizes Temporary Funds
The House of Representatives today voted to extend current Federal aviation programs and taxes through the end of March, 2010. The current authorization was set to expire in 2007, but has been extended several times. The current extension is due to expire December 31, when Congress will be out of session.
Rep. James L. Oberstar (D-MN) in remarks given on the floor of the House said that the FAA Reauthorization, which sets a three-year budget for the agency, was passed earlier this year however work on the bill had not been completed in the Senate. The extension will fund the FAA at the levels set in the current budget.
