EAA Chapters Enjoy New AirVenture Morning Sessions
August 19, 2010 — Chapter leaders and volunteers joined together daily in a new setting at EAA AirVenture 2010 that proved to be very popular. Each morning featured more than 50 participants enjoying a light breakfast among friends as they explored a topic important to local chapters. Topics included membership recruitment, social networking, chapter newsletters, and websites.
The forums were a great opportunity to hear suggestions, questions, and an exchange of ideas from chapter leaders. They also brought together members from newly formed chapters as well as those that have been around for many years.
Newly named EAA president Rod Hightower also dropped by to chat with several individuals and discuss a variety of topics.
Another highlight of the week was the annual Ford Chapter Presidents Reception, which saw a record number of chapter presidents and their guests enjoy a reception in the Ford Motor Company Exhibit. They were surrounded by state-of-the-art automotive technology and door prizes, and were treated to remarks from EAA chairman and president Tom Poberezny, Ford Motor Company board member Edsel Ford, and EAA Young Eagles co-chairman Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger. Also stopping in for a visit was special guest, actor Kurt Russell.
Guests enjoyed a casual evening of networking with other chapter leaders and a special evening to thank them for their local contributions. EAA thanks Ford for hosting this event for our chapters.
