EAA SportAir Returns to Indianapolis October 30-31
October 21, 2010 — EAA SportAir Workshops returns to Indianapolis, Indiana, next weekend, October 30-31, for another in a series of two-day programs on building and restoring your aircraft. Vincennes University will host the weekend program at its Aviation Technology Center located at Indianapolis International Airport. “Vincennes, recognized for state of the art programs in aviation maintenance and pilot training programs, is an ideal environment to learn the basics of aircraft construction and restoration,” noted Mark Forss, Coordinator of the SportAir workshop program. “In addition, Vincennes is one of the few schools in the country that offers local and regional outreach programs, making affordable aviation maintenance training accessible.” SportAir is delighted to team with Vincennes to present its workshop program, and in recognition of our joint efforts of aviation training, is presenting the university with a $500 scholarship for a deserving student enrolled in its aviation program.
Courses available include Fabric Covering, Sheet Metal Construction, Electrical Systems and Avionics, Composite Construction, and Gas Welding. In addition a Saturday evening program, with pizza dinner, “What’s Involved in Kit Building,” is scheduled. This seminar covers the basics of selecting an aircraft, setting up workspace, registration, certification, test flying and much more. There is still room available in most of the courses.
Aircraft Spruce and Specialty, a major sponsor of the EAA SportAir Workshops program, offers discounts on tools, materials, and supplies to workshop participants in recognition of their efforts to take the next step to build or restore an aircraft.
