Sun ’n Fun Fly-In Wrap-Up: What You Missed in Lakeland



April 7, 2011 — You may have heard about the tornado, or the big crowds over the weekend. Maybe you heard about the new products or aircraft that were on display. The news out of Sun ’n Fun this year was exciting, tragic, and hopeful, all in one week.
Tornado Destroys Nearly 70 Planes but Little Damage to Spirits
Those arriving last Friday after an EF1 tornado touched down at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport would be hard-pressed to tell that anything negative took place the day before. With the hard work that took place overnight - relocating broken planes, re-erecting damaged tents, removing fallen trees, and repositioning various stray directional signage - the place looked a lot different the morning after.
