No Installation Cost for PS Engineering Audio Panel
October 24, 2011 –PS Engineering has introduced a version of its PMA8000B audio panel that is a direct plug-in replacement for early versions of the Garmin GMA340 unit. From November 1 through the end of February 2012 PS Engineering will pay the installation cost to have the PMA8000B mounted into the GMA340 tray in your instrument panel.
Among the features of the PMA8000B is the company’s IntelliVox voice recognition system intercom. Instead of using a squelch that you must adjust to open the intercom circuit when you speak, IntelliVox is a “smart” electronic system that recognizes the human voice when you speak into the headset microphone.
The PMA8000 also has an audio monitoring system that lowers the volume on the secondary frequency when there are communications on the primary frequency, which can be useful when listening to ATIS and the controller, for example. The system also accepts entertainment audio inputs and cellphones and can also mute those in the pilot’s headset when ATC is talking.
The intercom system allows a pilot to isolate himself from others in the airplane, or allow only the two front-seat positions to communicate with each other. The transmitters can be individually selected so that the pilot in one seat can use one radio while the other pilot is transmitting on the other. There is also an internal recording system that allows the pilot to play back a radio transmission to confirm that he heard the message correctly.
The PMA8000B is priced at $1,895. PS Engineering puts a three-year warranty on the audio panel. For more information, click here.
