Brazilian Police Foil Smugglers by Ramming Aircraft
November 3, 2011 – Video from a Brazilian website shows a vehicle ramming a low-wing retractable gear aircraft on a dirt road near Sao Paulo, Brazil. The video was shot from the back seat of the car and as it accelerates toward the aircraft, a man in the right front seat can be seen leaning out the window with what appears to be an automatic rifle. A rough translation of the story from the Portuguese language website Fohla.com purportedly has the driver yelling, “Don’t shoot!” and that he will hit the wing instead.
As the camera pans back inside the car the video shows an impact and the car windshield heavily damaged. The man with the gun jumps out and as the car rolls by the aircraft’s nose and left wing can be seen resting on the ground. The website reports that Brazilian Police were preventing a smuggling operation, arresting five people and seizing approximately $115,000 in contraband.
