Cirrus Aircraft Expands Facility for Vision Jet Production
Cirrus will expand its Grand Forks factory around a new autoclave.
June 27, 2013 - Cirrus Aircraft is expanding its Grand Forks, North Dakota facility to accommodate production of the Vision SF50 Jet. Modifications began in May, and an autoclave, used to manufacture large, composite parts like the jet's carbon fiber main spar, was to be delivered this week.
The autoclave will be installed and the building will be constructed around it, Cirrus said. The company previously outsourced carbon spar production and, though initially expensive, the facility will save the company several million dollars over the next 10 years, creating additional jobs in the process.
"We appreciate the ongoing support from the city of Grand Forks," said Bill King, Cirrus Aircraft vice president of business administration. "They have partnered with Cirrus from the very beginning and their actions and support confirm their devotion to our continued success."
