FAA Releases Data Regarding ECi Cylinders AD
September 26, 2013 - The FAA recently made documents and data available related to its proposed AD for certain Engine Components International (ECi) cylinder assemblies.
In late August, EAA, along with AOPA, NATA, American Bonanza Society, Cessna Pilots Association, and Twin Cessna Flyers, requested that the FAA release the internal risk assessment documents and associated data.
The FAA responded by posting the risk analysis documents to the proposed AD docket last week. The documents, which include an internal "talking points" slideshow, a narrative white paper, safety recommendations, and several data presentations, are now available for public review and comment.
The AD would "require initial and repetitive inspections, replacement of cracked cylinders, and replacement of cylinder assemblies at reduced times-in-service."
EAA is currently reviewing the posted data and will submit formal comments once the review is complete.
