The objective of Timeless Voices of Aviation, a major video history project of the EAA AirVenture Museum, is to assure that the first person oral histories of aviationís development are preserved for future generations of family members, teachers, students, historians and others.
Imagine the scholars, professors, designers, students who will lead us in the future, being able to hear Ė first hand Ė how the great leaders and problem solvers of aviationís past accomplished their work, in their own words.
Imagine a great grandson being able to see the face, hear the voice and understand the importance of the accomplishments of the ancestor he never met, just by turning on his PC.
Imagine a middle school teacher, in your home town, 10, 15, 20 years from now being able to go to a website and access, on behalf of her students, a first person account of WWII aviation from a veteran of the war from the same town.
Imagine what it will take to make this happen. Imagine Timeless Voices of Aviation.
- To collect thousands of first person video oral history recordings from individuals who have impacted aviationís development.
- To document and preserve these recordings for future generations of family members, teachers, students, historians and others.
- To make the recordings accessible through an on-line video history archive, and initiatives such as Museum displays and TV productions.
- To engage thousands of volunteers in the rewarding process of gathering video oral history recordings.
Special thanks to the Robert A. "Bob" and Susan C. Wilson Foundation for generous support of the Timeless Voices of Aviation program.
