We're Getting the Band Back Together!
By Elton Eisele, EAA 216273
After a one-year absence, the EAA AirVenture Concert Band is returning to the event in 2013. It will mark the sixth year that EAA members and others will get together to entertain fellow Oshkosh attendees during one of the fly-in's evening programs. A love of music and aviation have brought together more than 300 EAA members from 32 states and three countries since 2007, ranging from retired musicians to junior high school students, including several former military band members. It's the first (and only) band at an aviation event comprised of attendees!
The band is under the direction of Elton Eisele, a longtime EAA member and high school band director from the Chicago area. It will perform either July 31 or August 1, location and time to be determined, after a mass rehearsal or two at Oshkosh. Don't worry - you'll receive the times and the music in advance so you can be prepared.
If you'd like to join us, we'd love to have you! All band instruments are welcome. The deadline for registering online is April 14. Find out more at the AirVenture band's Facebook page or by contacting Elton directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For those of you who play large instruments that are tough to bring along in the airplane or motorhome, we've partnered with Heid Music located at 1750 W. South Park Ave. in Oshkosh, right across from the North 40 area. You can reserve an instrument by calling them directly at (920) 651-4343.
