Weekend Work Parties Help Make it Happen!
By Brenda Anderson, Chapter Administrator, EAA #650581
Preparing the grounds for EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is no small feat and is made possible through the volunteer efforts of many chapters and members. Each year we organize a series of work weekends where chapters come in and help prepare for the upcoming member convention. Weekend work parties have become an annual tradition for many chapters and are a fun way to check out in advance some of the changes to the grounds before it all begins.
Work varies each weekend but consists of such things as grass cutting, painting, carpentry, cleaning, general maintenance, and small projects. EAA provides accommodations in the bunkhouse for the weekend as well as meals in the volunteer kitchen. Six weekends are designated throughout the summer: May 18-19, June 1-2, June 8-9, June 22-23, June 29-30, and July 13-14.
As scheduling is required for the bunkhouse and meals, reservations are required. It is important for your chapter to send in the registration form so that we can be prepared for your arrival and participation.
If your chapter is interested in participating, please send an e-mail to Theresa Meixensperger in South Maintenance for registration materials. She can be reached via e-mail or by calling 920-426-4819.
