Early-arrival Group Camping in North 40 Now Available

Responding to requests from EAA members, the North 40 aircraft camping area will now accept groups camping together in a new "North Corral" in 2013.

The North Corral area, located on the north side of Runway 9/27 between taxiways B1 and B2, is a trial offering in 2013. It is open to groups of aircraft of between five and 15 aircraft that are arriving at Oshkosh on July 24-26, prior to the full implementation of FAA's Oshkosh NOTAM.

"Each year we receive several requests for groups to camp together in the North 40 despite arriving at different times, but the traffic flow in that area doesn't typically allow for those operations," said EAA's John Carrier, the staff liaison to the North 40 operations. "We worked with the North 40 volunteer leadership to create an area where we could test a concept this year. How well it works in 2013 will determine how we'll move forward with it in future years."

The deadline for registering for group camping slots in the North Corral is Friday, July 12. Group leaders should be sure to review all guidelines for this inaugural effort now posted on the AirVenture website.
