EAA’s Founders’ Wing in Oshkosh hosted AMVETS Post 7’s commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese Empire. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker led a group of dignitaries honoring those who served, including Appleton resident Clyde Stephenson, who was serving in the Marines at Pearl Harbor when the attack occurred.
Walker thanked Stephenson and all the Wisconsin residents who served in the military during World War II. “On days like today 70 years ago, young men and women grew up quickly and saved the world we know today,” he said.
More than 100 people attended the special ceremony, including other WWII vets and those who served in Korea, Vietnam, and the Middle East.
