February 11, 2015 - The EAA AirVenture Concert Band, the first and only ensemble in the world specifically assembled to perform at an air show, has officially opened registration for its 2015 performance group.

"Each summer, we have around 65 members from at least 30 states and various countries perform," said conductor Elton Eisele, who also chairs AirVenture Departure Briefing.

"We have had over 350 members of the AirVenture Band over the years."

The musicians represent all walks of life, from retired personnel to junior high students to former military players. Our volunteer musicians go beyond their love of flight and give to others their love of music.

The schedule is not yet official for this year, but hopefully it will be similar to last year's. First rehearsal is expected to be Tuesday morning 9-10:30 a.m. on stage in the Theater in the Woods with another Wednesday rehearsal 2-3:30 p.m. on the same stage. If all follows the 2014 schedule, a concert will occur at Theater in the Woods on Wednesday, 6-6:45 p.m. In addition, a special surprise performance is possible, Eisele said.

Musicians will receive music and part assignments after submitting the application. We have partnered again with Heid Music, located just outside the road to AirVenture on South Park Avenue, allowing those who play large instruments access to one so they do not have to bring one to Oshkosh.
