Dick Rutan Featured Speaker at Teachers’ Day
July 2, 2015 - Dick Rutan, who with Jeana Yeager successfully flew the first ever nonstop, non-refueled flight around the world in the Rutan Model 76 Voyager aircraft, is the keynote speaker for this year’s Teachers’ Day, set for Tuesday morning, July 21, at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015.
Teachers’ Day brings teachers together from across the nation to examine ways of using aviation to motivate kids to learn science, math, engineering, and technology. Teachers can still register online for this free event.
“What a great opportunity to network with other teachers and aviation professionals,” said Debbie Phillips, Build A Planes executive director and an Albuquerque teacher. “Teachers’ Day is free and open to any teacher who’d like to attend.”
Now in its sixth year, Teachers’ Day provides educators with information and ideas from a variety of aviation organizations, including AOPA, GAMA, the National Air & Space Museum, as well as EAA.
Teachers who attend Teachers’ Day get free admission to EAA AirVenture compliments of EAA, as well as a free lunch and free parking.
Build A Plane is a non-profit organization that gives kids a chance to build real airplanes, placing more than 200 general aviation aircraft into schools across the United States since 2003.
