Ford Brings Fun to Oshkosh for 16th Year
July 18, 2015 - Ford Motor Company is once again bringing an exciting array of vehicles and family-friendly activities to enjoy at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh—the World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration. This year marks the 16th consecutive year Ford has been the exclusive automotive sponsor at AirVenture, and when in Oshkosh, they’re about much more than cars and trucks.
Here are some of the highlights Ford has in store for AirVenture 2015.
Dierks Bentley: One of country music’s hottest stars arrives at AirVenture’s opening day concert as Dierks Bentley includes Oshkosh in his 40-city Sounds of Summer tour. Bentley, a private pilot himself, can’t wait to take his place among the incredible display aircraft on Boeing Plaza on Monday, July 20, starting at 6 p.m. The concert, presented by Ford with additional support from Cirrus Aircraft, is free to all AirVenture attendees Monday.
Apollo Edition Mustang: They’ve done it again—Ford Design Manager Melvin Betancourt and the design and engineering teams, that is. They created another masterpiece, one-off custom Ford Mustang for the EAA Gathering of Eagles auction that will surely promote some spirited bidding. This time they honor the famed “successful failure” of NASA’s Apollo 13 mission 45 years ago. The car will be on display at the Ford Hangar throughout the week until Thursday, when it will be taken to the Eagle Hangar to be auctioned off at the Gathering to benefit EAA’s youth education programs.
Ford Hangar: Fun for the whole family, with activities such as the Raptor Rock Wall, Tough Tumblers Bungee Trampolines, F-150 Lil’ Truckers Power Wheels, and the Ford Performance Simulator—a race-inspired ride pushing a driver’s skills to the max.
Monday through Friday at the hangar catch a ride in a Ford Model-T from 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. The hangar also boasts the Ford Performance Lineup: the all-new Ford GT Concept, F-150 Raptor Concept, Shelby GT350 Mustang, Focus RS and ST vehicles, and the stunning Lincoln Continental Concept.
EAA Fly-In Theater: Ford again sponsors the nightly outdoor movies shown on a five-story high projection screen Sunday through Friday at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday at 9:30 p.m. Featured films include some of Hollywood’s biggest aviation-themed blockbusters along with a few specials and classics—all introduced by well-known aviation personalities. Free admission (and popcorn, too!)
Eagles Tribute Band: Rock to the sounds of Hotel California - The Original Eagles Tribute Band on Saturday, July 25, 6:30 p.m. at the Boeing Plaza. The band has been recreating the legendary sound of the Eagles all around the world for nearly three decades, and this will be its first visit to Oshkosh.
Ford Autograph HQ: Collect autographs from celebrities, aviation enthusiasts, and legendary performers! Read AirVenture Today for who’s on the schedule and when. Or visit the Ford Hangar for times and schedules.
Free Collector Hats: Stop by the Ford Hangar to pick up your own ever-popular Ford cowboy hat for free while supplies last!
Ford Transit Connect: Keep your eye out for the Ford Transit Connect, which will be distributing ice cream every evening at the campgrounds and during the Monday and Saturday night concerts at Boeing Plaza.
