International Leaders Eyeing AirVenture Visits

May 31, 2018 - EAA AirVenture Oshkosh will again be host to a number of international delegations in 2018, as the EAA fly-in convention has often welcomed international officials and aviation leaders throughout its history. Of note this year are government visits from the United Kingdom and Czech Republic, highlighting the importance of the annual convention to the global general aviation industry.

Visiting from the U.K. is the All-Party Parliamentary Group on General Aviation. The group, similar in nature to the GA Caucus in the United States Congress, is a cross-party body of members of the U.K. parliament and peers who work to support and promote general aviation in the United Kingdom.

From the Czech Republic, H.E. Radek Vondráček, speaker of the Chamber of Deputies — one of the country’s two parliamentary houses — will visit Oshkosh on opening day.

Government and aviation leaders from around the globe are part of the international visitor contingent to Oshkosh, which in 2017 welcomed visitors from 80 nations

“Oshkosh is a place for international commerce,” said Sean Elliott, EAA vice president of advocacy and safety. “The continued attendance of international delegations reaffirms AirVenture’s role as a hub for international business in the general aviation community.”

Other groups scheduled to attend AirVenture 2018 include delegations from the Bahamas, Canada, China, and many others.
