WomenVenture Unites Women Aviators All Week in Oshkosh

July 22, 2018 - For the 11th straight year, the opportunity for women who love aviation to build camaraderie and open doors to mentorship and participation comes to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, as WomenVenture events will take place multiple days this week.

Activities begin with the WomenVenture Social tonight at 5:30 p.m. at Appareo Forum Pavilion 9, presented by Endeavor Air. All women are invited to meet and connect in a fun atmosphere of an ice cream social. Preregistration online at www.EAA.org/womenventure is appreciated.

On Tuesday, the Ninety-Nines Aviation Appreciation dinner begins at 6 p.m. at the EAA Nature Center. Tickets are available in the Ninety-Nines Booth 2120, in Thrustmaster Gaming Exhibit Hangar B.

Women in Aviation International’s Connect Breakfast at the Paul H. Poberezny Conference Center tent kicks off the Wednesday events at 8 a.m. Tickets are available at WAI Booth 2041, in Hangar B.

The annual WomenVenture group photo on AirVenture’s Boeing Plaza will be taken at 11 a.m. Wednesday. As in past years, a limited-edition WomenVenture T-shirt is available to all women participating in the photo, while supplies last. T-shirts can be obtained at the EAA AirVenture Welcome Center, as well as the WAI and Ninety-Nines exhibits, starting today.

The WomenVenture Power Lunch follows the group photo at 11:30 a.m. at Theater in the Woods. Tickets are $5 each and are available in advance at www.EAA.org/womenventure. This year’s speaker is Heather Penney, senior resident fellow at the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies, who is also well-known for her service as a D.C. Air National Guard F-16 pilot on 9/11.

WomenVenture activities are designed to encourage participation by women in aviation, as only 6 percent of all pilots in the U.S. are women.

WomenVenture is presented by The Boeing Company, with additional support from Glasair Aviation, Women in Aviation International, Ninety-Nines Inc., Endeavor Air, Fly Girl LLC, and L3 Aviation Products.
