WORLD WAR II ROMANCE AND AVIATION FEATURED IN EAA JUNE 15 PRESENTATION

EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — (June 13, 2017) — As part of the Aviation Adventure Speaker Series, Kara White will discuss projects from her book My Dearest Anna, which explores her grandparents’ letters during World War II on Thursday, June 15, at 7 p.m. in the Founders Wing of the EAA museum.

Kara’s grandparents fell in love through their letters, separated by a world at war. Their story followed the path of her grandpa’s training to his bomber missions in the Pacific, as well as the evolution of his relationship with Kara’s grandmother. Upon finding her grandparents’ letters, Kara didn’t want this story to be lost forever, and used the letters to complete the story of how her family began.

“After reading all my grandparents’ letters, I found that I knew a different side of them,” Kara White said. “Two people I knew as grandma and grandpa became Dick and Anna. It was a look into their past selves as we were discovering what the world could be while it was being torn apart by a world war.”

Kara gives real insight into the mind and spirit of one man, fighting for our country’s freedom. She will discuss her book and her various documentary projects revolving around World War II. Following her presentation, books will be available for purchase and signing. Admission to the speaker series is free for members and $5 for nonmembers.
