B-52 Crew Hand-Delivers EAA Chapter 343 Patches to Oshkosh

August 2015 - Oshkosh and EAA chapters received a special treat from our friends at Barksdale AFB when they flew a B-52 Stratofortress into the convention and then parked it at show center in the Boeing Plaza.
As is the typical Oshkosh effort, Wittman Regional Airport staff removed 6,000 feet of runway lights to accommodate the B-52’s wing-mounted outrigger gear, and then reinstalled the lights after the landing.
Pilot Maj. Jeremy Holt set the BUFF down right on Runway 36’s centerline, a flawless landing. Once off the runway, a 30-foot-long, 2,500-pound tow bar, brought in separately by a C-130 Hercules, was set up so the B-52 could be safely towed and parked in the Boeing Plaza.

Later that day, the B-52 crew taped a “Judge Me” prop card on the underside of the nose. After Vintage aircraft judging had concluded that week, the B-52 received a “Best in Class–Intercontinental Bomber” award plaque, presented by EAA Vintage President Geoff Robison on Friday evening at the Theater in the Woods.
