IMC Club Update

Radek Wyrzykowski, EAA 1187948 - Manager of Flight Proficiency

IMC Club LogoFebruary 2016 - It is with great pleasure we can announce that in January of this year was the very first merger of an IMC Club in Columbus, Ohio, with EAA Chapter 9. The initial meeting was a great success. Now, many have followed and are in the process of integration as our beta program comes to an end. In January alone, more than 25 EAA chapters have expressed interest in starting IMC Club programming. I have to say the excitement is unparalleled.

Since November 2015, IMC programming has been produced and distributed by EAA. Since the integration, we have worked hard to develop proper integration process and procedures, and to redevelop resources that will be available to all EAA chapters and members. A lot has been accomplished in that short period.

Earlier this year, thanks to EAA art director Nick Hanson, the new EAA/IMC logo was created. When you look at it, you will notice our new “attitude indicator” is showing a steady climb. We have developed webinar training (available on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month) for all potential and existing IMC Club program coordinators. They can learn how to use available resources and conduct effective guided discussion. The IMC Club Resource Page was created with a library of scenarios to be used during IMC Club meetings. IMC Club program coordinator’s discussion forum was also established to provide a place to exchange ideas and comments.

We finally have a place to continue the discussion of IMC Clubs on the EAA Forums! This is a place to ask questions, receive feedback, and connect with other instrument-rated pilots. We will be posting a bi-weekly question that will present a real-world flying experience. Join the forums today, get the conversation going, and watch for our next question announced on Facebook and Twitter!

Join us for the EAA webinar on February 23 at 7 p.m. CST for an overview of this new and exciting EAA chapter program. Since its establishment in 2010, the IMC Club has helped pilots worldwide to share their experiences and build individual proficiency by discussing real-world flight scenarios. During this webinar, I will discuss the IMC Club program and how it will benefit you and your EAA chapter.
