Time to Nominate Your Next Chapter Leaders

October 2020 – Now that October is here, it is time for your chapter to begin considering who you will nominate for leadership positions for the 2021 chapter year.

The best way to ensure the continued health and well-being of a chapter is to get the right people to take on officer roles. A best practice is to form a nominating committee of a few members to identify the best people and then recruit them for the position. As we discuss during our EAA Chapter Leadership Training Academies and Boot Camps, do not leave elections to chance, hoping a capable person will raise their hand. The nominating committee often will have to use a bit of flattery and arm-twisting to get the candidate over their initial objections of not having time or the presence of better candidates.

When the nominating committee does its job, the election becomes a mere formality and the continued health of the chapter is ensured.

Now that officer elections are just around the corner, be sure your chapter is prepared. It is not too late to get your chapter nominating committee in place and prepared to bring candidates forward.
