An aircraft’s structural weight is one of the most critical factors in the vehicles energy consumption. This relationship makes the use of ultralight materials an appealing option. Ultralight materials tend to be engineer or lattice materials which have seen significant progress in the last few decades but are typically limited to small lab-based components. Our work uses well-established manufacturing techniques to realized large scale ultralight structures suitable for aircraft.
