EAA Members Must Urge Caucus Membership

February 14, 2013 - As the 113th Congress settles in on Capitol Hill, the House and Senate General Aviation caucuses need the support of existing and new members alike for what is going to be a crucial session of Congress for general aviation.

EAA is asking our members to use Rally Congress, a new online tool, to reach out to their congressmen and senators and urge their active support of the General Aviation Caucus.

Through a series of retirements and changes in party, there are approximately 40 members of the two caucuses who will not be returning to Washington this year. That means our representatives need to be encouraged to join the caucus, which helps spread the word on issues of importance to sport and recreational aviation, as well as general aviation as a whole.

The caucuses have been instrumental in helping us defeat user fee proposals and the LightSquared proposal that would have interfered with aeronautical GPS signals, as well as in passing important legislation such as the Pilot's Bill of Rights and residential through-the-fence agreement language.

EAA asks that our members take immediate action and request the support and involvement of their senators and representatives by visiting www.eaa.org/rallycongress and clicking the "Take Action" button. EAA has provided a letter that can be sent as-is with a single click, but members have the option of editing the letter as they wish or drafting an original piece. As always, phone calls are also an effective, personal way to reach a representative.
