Exciting Times for EAA Canada

By Ian Brown, EAA 657159

May 2019 - As you read this you are probably aware that EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is about two months away. Many of us are planning our activities — volunteering, camping, and what we most enjoy doing in Oshkosh, which is rekindling old friendships and forming some new ones. If you're like me you might also be planning your route so that you can visit friends on the way. Some of you are going to be planning to "land on the green dot" for the first time. It's an experience not to be missed, and I highly recommend it if it's in your mind to do that. If it's any help, I really enjoyed sharing the experience with a trusted friend, even though he hadn't done it before either. A second pair of eyes and ears comes in really handy when you make that Fisk arrival.

Canadian geography is so vast that Oshkosh may be the only time some of you get to meet with each other. I certainly hope that you get to meet and spend time with your Canadian Council and some of our support team. Three folks you should really plan on meeting, either at the EAA Canada Breakfast on Wednesday at the Nature Pavilion or at our ice cream social, are Jeff Seaborn, our new Canadian Council chairperson, and Kyle Ludwick, manager of partnership development and the EAA headquarters liaison responsible for the relationship with EAA Canada. The third person is maybe well known to some of you. Patrick Gilligan, as many of you will have read last month, will be there with his EAA Canadian Council hat on. I'm excited by the new energy this year, and we're looking for all sorts of beneficial changes, including webinars of our own, chapter liaisons, creative financial discussions, and celebrations of our history. Come and meet with us at the EAA Canada Tent on Monday morning and enjoy a cup of Tim Horton's coffee. It's on us!
