Dynon SkyView Remote Magnetometer

The smaller Dynon D10A EFIS has always had a remote magnetometer option, and it works well. Mounting this device farther aft takes it away from potential magnetic interference. Several homebuilders have taken advantage of this option which also includes input for an OAT sensor, mounted toward the rear of the aircraft away from the heat of the exhaust.

Dynon has now announced a similar option for the SkyView which will help with installation conflicts with other devices. It allows the customer to choose an ideal location for the magnetometer while having more latitude on the location of the SkyView in the panel. Listed at $180, Dynon has announced an introductory price of $140 for the SV-MAG-236 device.

There is also a new software release, 12.2, which contains a software update for SkyView’s SV-XPNDR-261 transponder. This update adds support for the ADS-B data format required to use the Garmin GTN and GNS (WAAS versions) IFR navigators as a GPS position source for FAA 2020 ADS-B mandate compliance credit,” according to Dynon’s website.
