Oshkosh, Here We Come!

By Ian Brown

July 2019 - By the time you read this we will be within days of arriving at our beloved EAA AirVenture, or as most of us call it, just Oshkosh. Your Canadian Council has been working hard planning to make it a wonderful experience for every Canadian attendee, whether it's your first or 50th time. We'll be celebrating 50 years of Oshkosh, 50 years since Apollo 11, and 60 years since Burt Rutan flew his first solo flight at the age of 16.

Here is a list of the forums at the Canada Tent, just on the flightline side of the FAA control tower. Note that the Wednesday breakfast is not at the tent, but at a tent near the Nature Center.

We don't need to repeat here the excellent advice on getting to Oshkosh, whether by air or road, but if you need a link, you could start here with the plan your trip link. If you are flying in, you should start by checking the changes to the NOTAM for 2019 and then download the latest NOTAM itself. The AirVenture App is now live and downloadable at the Apple App Store or Google Play. It gets better every year. Don’t leave home without it!

We're excited to be seeing you all at the tent. Remember, tickets for the breakfast are free but limited to the first 250, so if you're determined to be there, come and ask for a ticket on Monday morning. They were all gone early on Tuesday last year.

Thanks to all of our contributors this month. Without you we wouldn't have a newsletter. Safe travels and tailwinds or "see y'all soon" as they seem to say south of the border!
