January 2021 – You may already know if you go back that far that our Canadian EAA membership had started a Canadian Column in Sport Aviation which was published every month beginning in January 1971.

It was helmed by Herb Cunningham, from Scarborough, Ontario. This was the precursor to our beloved Bits and Pieces newsletter. Of course, this was pre-Internet, and the simplest way to get news out to the Canadian membership was just to add this column to a magazine they were going to receive anyway. In the announcement Herb said he would "welcome news from our Canadian members and chapters for inclusion in this column and hope that it will keep our members up to date on activities right across Canada." Sounds a lot like Bits and Pieces doesn't it? So maybe we can say "Happy 50th Birthday, Bits and Pieces" and give ourselves a nice pat on the back.
