New Electronic Flight Bag Software for iPad

December 2017 - There is a new electronic flight bag (EFB) candidate for aviators in the Apple world. It’s not quite ready for prime time in Canada, but you might like to check out Aerovie.com and its aviation software. There is a free version and a pro version, with a monthly subscription of US$6.99 or an annual fee of US$69.99. Aerovie works with the iPad or iPhone.
The free version has
- Geo-referenced approach charts
- VFR/IFR sectional charts
- Electronic pilot report (PIREP) submission
- Brief and file IFR/VFR flight plans
- Automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) in-flight weather and traffic
The pro version also includes
- Radar forecast
- Vertical weather profile
- Portable terrain avoidance warning system (TAWS)
- Enhanced weather tools
- Free 30-day trial

So far, the only solution to finding good en route weather information for a specific trip was to get a full flight briefing. This tool looks like a great adjunct. Additionally, there is a very nice introductory video to the software here.
