EAA, GA Coalition Urge FAA to Consider Model Aviation in Remote ID Rule

March 19, 2020 - This week, EAA joined a group of nearly 30 general aviation organizations to urge the FAA to consider the input of the traditional modeling community in their Remote ID rulemaking process, to ensure the forthcoming rule does not wipe out traditional model aviation as it currently exists.

In a letter addressed to FAA administrator Steve Dickson, the organizations laid out the importance of model aviation in all facets of the aviation community and workforce and then identified the variety of issues with the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking the Agency released earlier this year. You can read the full letter here.

"In moving forward with this NPRM, we urge you to consider the input of the traditional modeling community and promulgate a rule that will ensure this vibrant hobby continues to inspire generations of youth and remains a passion for countless responsible users of the NAS," the letter stated.

EAA will continue to monitor this issue closely going forward, and will provide more information as soon as it is available.
