Greg Koontz Debuts New Airplane

March 31, 2016 - American Legend Aircraft Company announced today the first scheduled performance of a Super Legend HP aircraft landing on a pickup truck. Greg Koontz Airshows will perform at Luke Air Force Base during its 75 Years of Airpower air show April 2–3, 2016. This will be the first public performance by Koontz as he lands the new Super Legend HP on top of a moving pickup truck.

The Super Legend HP is a stock aircraft that incorporates options specific to the air show. These include a Smoking Airplanes 3.5-gallon smoke system and a larger step allowing easier access to the cabin. The Super Legend HP features a 180-hpTitan engine offering superb takeoff and climb performance. The Super Legend HP will be the featured aircraft in Greg Koontz’s “Alabama Boys/World’s Smallest Airport” air show act throughout 2016.

Koontz, EAA 1171111, has been performing in air shows since 1974 when he was a member of Colonel Moser’s Flying Circus. Koontz credits learning his maneuvers from “the best in the business,” retired Air Force Col. Ernie Moser. Koontz has held his Level 1 SAC card, the highest rating allowing aerobatic flight below 250 feet AGL, since 1976.

American Legend Aircraft Company continues to be one of the most successful manufacturers in the sport pilot category and is noted for its exceptional product support. American Legend is also renowned for building a true Cub, one that is sensibly modern, competitively priced, and built to last.

Koontz will make his second 2016 appearance in the World’s Smallest Airport flying routine at the Sun ‘n Fun Fly-in in Lakeland, Florida.
