Triple Tree Aerodrome to Host Young Aviators Fly-In

April 5, 2018 - Triple Tree Aerodrome in Woodruff, South Carolina, will be the site of the inaugural Young Aviators Fly-In from June 8-10.

On Saturday, June 9, the event will be hosting various aviation organizations including colleges, clubs, and youth programs. In addition, there will be a fabric-covered and tailwheel airplane fly-in, forums, and raffles for rides in aircraft such as a P-51 Mustang, Staggerwing, and cabin Waco as well as other items. There will be no landing or daily admission fee and food trucks will be on site each day.

EAA will be represented at the Young Aviators Fly-In by headquarters staff, the Vintage Aircraft Association, and Warbirds of America.

While the event is referred to as a “young aviators” fly-in, organizers Cayla McLeod, EAA 1174055, and Ryan Hunt, EAA 1272808, made sure to point out that everyone is welcome to attend.

“You hear, ‘Young Aviators Fly-In’ and it almost sounds like that’s the people we’re going for,” Ryan said. “That’s true, but we want to get the word out that everyone is welcome.”

Added Cayla: “That’s the biggest feedback we’ve gotten from people, wondering if they can still come even if they’re older. Yes, everyone is welcome.”
