Vintage Weekend Work Party at EAA

April 28, 2016 - The focus of the first work weekend was on building a covered front porch on the Authors/Vintage Book Store in the VAA Plaza. The base structure and the extended roof over the deck has been mostly completed. The crew also revamped one of the old marquee buildings to create a space for the computer operations necessary to support our "Vintage in Review" programming. The goal is to create a work space for Bob Lumley and Erich Roider to operate out of so they can convert the interview video footage and load it on a DVD that the interviewee can immediately receive and have available to take home with them! This relatively small structure will be attached to the rear of the Authors/Vintage Book Store building so it is conveniently located near the Interview Circle. We had more than three dozen volunteers to help with these projects.

Ten of the Vintage volunteer flight line also chairs came from as far as Denver and Ontario, Canada for their annual pre-convention walk-around. In addition, the past weekend included two days of meetings with the North 40 parking team, grounds director Steve Taylor, and senior EAA administrative staff to coordinate aircraft parking and safety convention-wide.
