EAA Joins GA Groups in Part 23 Comments

May 12, 2016 – EAA is joining several other general aviation organizations this week to comment on the Federal Aviation Administration’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) regarding FAR Part 23 reform. Published in March, the NPRM is the answer to a Congressional mandate to revise the regulations governing the certification of small aircraft.

EAA has long supported the effort to re-write Part 23, participating in the FAA Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) on Part 23 reform and promoting common-sense changes to foster innovation and improve safety for GA aircraft.

“The changes in Part 23 will allow new technology and better efficiency in designing, certifying, producing, maintaining, and operating today’s airplanes and create future GA designs,” said Sean Elliott, EAA’s vice president of advocacy and safety. “These reforms represent one of many steps in ensuring a favorable regulatory environment for GA in the future.”

EAA joined the comment effort led by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA). The comments applaud the FAA’s work to complete the Part 23 revision and urge the agency to release a final rule by the end of the year.
