Get Ready – International Young Eagles Day Is June 11

Sean D. Tucker flies Young Eagle at Bethpage Air Show

June 2, 2016 - Dozens of EAA chapters and hundreds of EAA-member pilots are ready to ensure the future of flight and help the EAA Young Eagles program reach 2 million kids flown by AirVenture 2016, as International Young Eagles Day on June 11 will give young people the opportunity to experience flight.

Already this year, EAA chapters and members have flown thousands of Young Eagles, with ground volunteers also dedicated to welcoming kids to aviation. Those volunteer pilots include Young Eagles Chairman Sean D. Tucker, who last week flew 14-year-old Alex Moynihan of Cold Spring Harbor, New York, prior to Tucker’s performances at the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach, Long Island.

The Young Eagles flight fulfilled Moynihan’s dream. He has always had a curiosity about aviation, first attending the Bethpage Air Show when he was 4 years old. Currently, Moynihan is an eighth grader at Cold Spring Harbor Junior High School, where’s he an excellent student and competes in football, basketball, and lacrosse. He also coaches the youngest lacrosse players in his town at a weekly beginner's clinic.

There are thousands of young people like Alex in your hometown, just waiting for a flight – make it happen for them! For all the information you need to get started, go to the EAA Young Eagles page.
