Proposed Ohio Budget Threatens Funding of GA Airports

June 20, 2019 - EAA is urging members in Ohio to contact their state senators to oppose a section in the proposed state budget that would threaten the funding of general aviation airports in the state.

The section of the budget in question would allow for grant funding currently set aside for public use airports to be used at commercial service airports and cargo-dedicated airports as well, despite those commercial airports benefitting from more robust funding sources than small GA airports. EAA has already written the Ohio Senate Finance Committee to voice opposition to the section of the budget in question.

Ohio members: please contact your state senator and ask them to oppose the language in Section 411.17 of House Bill 166 that makes the Airport Improvements – State fund applicable to commercial service and cargo-dedicated airports. These are line items 85304 and 85305 on page 2801 of the bill. Phone calls are ideal but emails and letters are also effective. You can find your state senator and his or her contact information here.

If you have any questions please contact govt@eaa.org or call EAA at 800-564-6322.
