Inaugural Osh for a Cause Benefit Raises More Than $1,600

Funds will go to Young Eagles program

September 7, 2017 - The first-ever Osh for a Cause benefit, held on Tuesday, July 25 during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017, raised more than $1,600 that will go to support EAA’s Young Eagles program.

The benefit was put on by Precise Flight and GlobalParts.aero, and featured the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team, Allison Leeward, Deon Mitten, and Jessica Bauman who were available for attendees to interact with during a raffle.

EAA’s Director of Education Bret Steffen said while lots of meet-and-greets are held during AirVenture every year, Osh for a Cause was unique in its strong support for Young Eagles.

“They wanted to take it to another level, which I think is really cool,” Bret said. “It shows their commitment to being responsible in our aviation industry and it recognizes that we need to work hard to make sure that there’s lots of people getting involved in it.”

Tickets were available for purchase at the event and raffle prizes included portable oxygen systems, oxygen breathing gear, and professional photo prints. Attendance was free of charge but donations were encouraged in addition to raffle ticket purchases.

The prizes were donated by Precise Flight, Deon Mitton Photography, MGF, and Grypmat.

In addition to the money raised, one of the oxygen systems was subsequently donated back to EAA and will be used for Young Eagles pilot recruitment going forward.
