EAA Board Member Receives FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award

September 9, 2016 - EAA board member Louis Seno Jr., EAA 31489, was presented with the FAA’s most prestigious award, the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award, during a ceremony on August 28.

The award honors individuals who have exhibited professionalism, skill, and aviation expertise throughout at least 50 years of piloting.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the FAA for this Master Pilot award and I am thrilled to join this outstanding group of aviators that represent the first pilots in the United States, the Wright Brothers,” commented Seno. “Aviation and the spirit of flying have always been an important part of my life and always will be.”

The seed for Seno’s love of aviation was planted after his father, Louis Seno Sr., read a series in Mechanix Illustrated featuring EAA founder Paul Poberezny’s modifications to the Corben Baby Ace in 1955. The pair was inspired to construct their first homebuilt, and Seno has since attended 62 consecutive conventions.

With more than 6,500 hours of flying since soloing at 16, and memberships in associations not limited to EAA, AOPA, and the American Bonanza Society, Seno’s dedication and love for the aviation community is obvious. 

He now works for Jet Support Services, Inc. and flies his own Beechcraft Bonanza Model F33A and Aviat Husky Model A-1B on amphibious floats.
