Beautiful Brodhead: By Invitation Only
September 17, 2015 - Every September, the Midwest Antique Airplane Club holds their private, invitation-only Grassroots fly-in, hosted by EAA Chapter 431, the “Cheeseland Chapter.” Chapter 431 provides the facilities, logistical support, and most of the meals (though Canada’s Tiger Boys serve up a Thursday night chili that is legendary.) Grassroots is aptly named; it’s a wonderful, back-to-basics get-together that boasts no sponsors, no vendors, and no air show, just good friends and great airplanes. If you love old airplanes, you’ll be in seventh heaven. The event, held at the beautiful, all-turf Brodhead airport, is open only to MAAC members - which a number of us are, and proudly - but we couldn’t resist sharing a few photos.
