Young Eagles Program Reaches Another Milestone

September 5, 2013 - The EAA Young Eagles program reached new heights recently when the 1.8 millionth Young Eagle took flight.

The program owes much of its continued success to all of the volunteer pilots across the globe who give these young men and women their first experience with flight. For some it is just a good time and a new experience, but for others it sparks dreams and leads them down a path of aviation.

Young Eagles flights are free for children ages 8-17 participating in the program, which is generously sponsored by Phillips 66.

EAA receives many letters from both parents and former Young Eagles thanking us for providing an (extremely) affordable means of exploring aviation. Many of these Young Eagles went on to become aviators, and some now even make their living flying.

The flight is just the first step in the EAA Young Eagles Flight Plan, which helps guide aspiring aviators on their journey to becoming a certificated pilot.

EAA thanks the countless volunteers for the continued success of this great program and hopes to reach the 2 million mark soon!
