David Nelson is the F-35 Lead Test Pilot at Edwards AFB. He is a distinguished graduate from Test Pilot School. He has 5,800 hours in 57 types of aircraft, has flown 3 different fighters to Mach 2 and 6 different types solo on his first flight in them. He has test flown both F-22 and F-35. He flew the first flight of the first Air Force F-35, flew the first F-35 spin testing, and has hovered an F-35B. He fired the first AMRAMM from the F-22 and the first AIM-9x from the F-35.
