An AF Academy graduate and career fighter pilot, Col Peck flew 163 F-4 combat missions in Vietnam. He later initiated from the Pentagon and then commanded the program named Constant Peg wherein a secret airfield was built in the Nevada desert and American fighter pilots flew restored Soviet MiG jet fighters. Other USAF, USN and USMC fighter pilots were trained in air-to-air combat against the MiGs. Colonel Peck later flew F-15 fighters operationally and commanded a reconnaissance wing.
