Gordon DavisGordon Davis, EAA Chapter 1522 President
The “Spirit of Aviation” is in my DNA. I believe that to be true. For as long as I can remember, I have had a love and passion for all things aviation. Like many young boys, I built plastic model airplanes and hung them from my ceiling. Becoming a pilot and flying my own plane has been a dream for as long as I can remember; however, it wasn’t until age 47 that I believed this was a dream that could become reality. After obtaining my pilot certificate in 2005, I purchased and restored an old Piper Cherokee. Currently I’m building an RV-7a and hoping to be flying it by fall 2017.
It is true, these days aviation is more than a hobby to me; it’s a passion and a way of life. When I was working toward my pilot’s license, I thought that obtaining the license its self would be the pinnacle of my flying experience. Little did I know that was only the beginning. I’ve learned there is much more to aviation than flying an airplane.
I live in Lexington, Kentucky with my wife Cathy. We have a daughter and son and 4 grandchildren. I have worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the past 33 years in the Information Technology field. I am currently serving my second two year term as President of EAA Chapter 1522 in Cynthiana, KY.
