Justin Fox

Schoolcraft, Michigan

Justin comes from a small town in Alaska. The son of a USAF air traffic controller, some of his earliest childhood memories are playing on base in the hangars and watching his dad practicing simulation controlling aircraft. Coming from a very aviation-oriented state, he had hopes and dreams of becoming a military aviator. Being colorblind disqualified Justin from not only the military program, but also getting his PPL. His plans for flying would be back-burnered for many years until he found UL flying, more specifically powered paragliding, or PPG. Now living in Michigan, not knowing anyone local who flew PPG, he had his mind made up that this was his way of leaving the ground and piloting his own aircraft, and set out to learn on his own how to do so. He spent the next year learning how to fly the equipment, had that successful first flight, and hasn’t looked back since.

Justin became very involved in the paramotor community, both online and in person, attending every function he could, traveling around the country, flying different locations, with different people, gaining knowledge and honing that skill. His background in the automotive collision industry gave him the experience to build his own paramotor, which he designed in his spare time and now manufactures and sells to people all over North America as SkyFox Paramotors. Justin also worked on continuing his education in the sport through the USPPA, earning ratings PPG 1-3, becoming an instructor, and finally earning his tandem exemption, which he uses at his seasonal school, Fly MI PPG, in St. John’s, Michigan.

Going into his third year of training and building, Justin’s passion has shifted from flying for himself to helping others run into the sky. He believes there’s nothing more rewarding than giving back to this great sport, guiding people and helping them achieve that first flight — truly, an emotional experience.
