After retiring, Steve began his quest to learn more about the WW II experiences of his father, pilot Howard Snyder, and the crew of the B-17 Susan Ruth. It became his passion, and after years of dedicated research, including 6 trips to Belgium and interviewing the Luftwaffe pilot who shot down the plane, resulted in his Amazon 5-Star book, SHOT DOWN. Steve has served on the Board of Directors of the 306th Bomb Group Historical Association for several years and is Past President.
